Live Interview with Kate Campbell

I attended a songwriting workshop March 21-23 at the Alabama Folk School at Camp McDowell in Nauvoo, Alabama.  It was taught by seasoned singer-songwriter Kate Campbell of Nashville.  Her storytelling ability has been compared to Southern greats such as Flannery O’Connor, Eudora Welty, and William Faulkner, while her recording career as a performing singer-songwriter is iconic in terms of her output and the quality of her songwriting ability.  Her workshop titled “Words, Words, Words” was an exploration of ideas on how to improve one’s songwriting craft, generate ideas, and write from the heart.  The weekend consisted of great meals at the lodge, jams in the evenings, a concert by Kate the last evening, and a showcase by the songwriting students on the Sunday of departure.  I was thrilled at the opportunity to interview Kate in her suite at Stough Lodge on the last day, and aired the pre-recorded interview on my radio show the following weekend.  You can listen to an archive of the interview on the player below.
